W.I.P (WORK IN PROGRESS)
(2024)

‘Work In Progress’ is an ongoing initiative led by myself and three other graphic designers that initially focussed on improving connections across the graphic design year groups at DJCAD, which was an issue that we had noticed from our own personal experiences. We held weekly, informal socials that gave students from different year groups the opportunity to show their work in progress and get feedback from others, as well as providing the lower year groups with presentations and meetups where they could freely ask for advice or information from those who were further on in the course. The culmination of our weekly meetups was an exhibition that showcased everyone’s ‘Work In Progress’ as we felt that exhibitions were always centred around the final outcome and not the process that let to that outcome. To enhance this event, I took on the challenge of developing and creating tangible objects, such as a large sign to be displayed at the exhibition space and 3D printed keyrings that could be given out to all those who attended. I also filmed, directed and edited a 14 minute documentary showing every stage of our process during the project (our ‘Work In Progress’) which was then projected onto the ceiling and played on a loop during the exhibition.
